Dialysis Disinfectants
There are three essential requirements for disinfectant cleaning agent for hemodialysis machine. 1. Washing 2. Disinfect 3. Removal of calcium carbonate. There is less decrease in sterilization capacity in the presence of organic matter and to sporulated bacteria. Ideal renal disinfection product should have rust and corrosion inhibitors in formulation and be able to remove biofilms and calcium carbonate residuals.
StrumenTM HYPA
Cold Sterilant – Decalcifier and Disinfectant Liquid.
Composition:
Per acetic acid – 4% w/w
Hydrogen Peroxide – 21% w/w
Acetic Acid – 10% w/w
Purified Water I.P – Q.S.
Mechanism of Action –
Microbial burden removal is an important concern in dialysis sterilization. StrumenTM HYPA will react with S-S bonds and H-S bonds in proteins, as a result StrumenTM HYPA can deactivate critical enzymes and disrupt cell membranes by oxidizing membrane components. The microbes are then unable to function and die, they cannot develop immunity or mutate to counteract with StrumenTM HYPA.
Salient features:
- Glutaraldehyde free cold Sterilant.
- More effective than formaldehyde, ethanol, and sodium hydroxide (which are only disinfectants that kill most bacteria and some spores but not all microorganisms.)
- Effective against non-tuberculosis mycobacteria including HIV (associated with AIDS), hepatitis viruses and microorganisms when used as a Sterilant.

Citric Acid IP – 21% w/v
(Malic Acid and Lactic Acid as adjuvants)
Purified Water IP – QS
Mechanisms of Action-
Destruction of the phospholipid layers in the cell membrane; disturbance of the intracellular pH balance. Activity strongly increased by an increase in temperature.
